This is a fascinating perspective on the marketing of climate change. The tension between self-interested thinking and altruistic thinking is clearly a core element of human psychology. I wish people would care more about the world around them in the context of climate change but I guess as you noted, people will care if the problem is presented as an immediate and pressing threat to themselves and their families.
